Pantai Merah, also called Pantai Serai and Pink Beach, is one of the seven pink sand beaches on the planet. Located on the Indonesian island of Komodo, situated within a national park, its vibrant color is due to the microscopic fragments of red corals that mix with the shining white sand of the coast. There is a second theory for the pink color of the sand, the foraminifera pigment, which is carried by fragments of coral mixed with shells and calcium carbonate material.
